Story 2
Staying in the Province of Gold
There was excitement and celebration at Bolt’s accelerator pitch event last week.
Ten South African drivers and couriers—mostly from Gauteng—each won over R40 000 to grow their business ideas.
The programme, launched in December 2024 by Bolt and business academy Pranary, attracted nearly 600 applicants nationwide.
Only 7% of the applicants were women, organisers saw it as a positive step in a male-dominated field.
120 applicants were chosen to join Bolt Academy, where they were trained in business skills like market research, customer building, and financial planning.
The top 20 pitched their ideas to judges, and ten walked away with a share of more than R400 000 to bring their dreams to life.
