Soundcheck provides a platform for emerging artists in Johannesburg

Young creatives in Johannesburg are opening up new spaces for artists to connect, collaborate and showcase their work, through the youth-lead 'Soundcheck' initiative.

The creative hub is offering emerging artists a platform to perform and share their stories at no cost.
Held every first Friday of the month, the event gives a stage to independent up-and-coming artists, while introducing audiences to fresh talent and authentic local voices.

Lead designer Chulumanco Makuluma says the monthly sessions aim to build communities among creatives and their audiences.

A Multipurpose sports facility unveiled in the Northwest

Deputy President Paul Mashatile, and various ministers, including Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie, handed over a newly built multi-purpose sports facility, at the Northwest University in Potchefstroom, as part of the 2025 Youth Day commemorations.

This year’s Youth Day event was held under the theme “Skills for a Changing World – Empowering Youth for Meaningful Economic Participation”.

Mashatile has called on government entities and strategic partners to accelerate and enhance meaningful interventions, in bridging the gap between skills development programmes.

The travelling art gallery showcases South African art in Germany

The Travelling Art Gallery initiative has currently setup exhibitions across Germany, bringing together some of South Africa’s most remarkable artistic voices, with the aim to connect local artists to a global audience.

The 22nd exhibition showcases South African contemporary art, with 24 artists featured and will run until the 5th of July.

The official delivery partner of The Travelling Art Gallery, DPD South Africa ensured the safe transportation of the extraordinary pieces to three major cities in Germany, where they will continue to inspire and ignite conversation.
