Pretoria volunteers pack hope for vulnerable families
Story 1
Volunteers at Pharos Community Centre in Garsfontein have spent more than 17 years providing food and support to vulnerable families in Pretoria.
The centre distributes monthly food parcels to around 25 families and prepares between 60 and 80 additional parcels every Thursday for men attending its Life Skills programme.
Along with providing essential groceries, the initiative offers encouragement, dignity and practical support to people facing difficult circumstances.
The centre is now calling on the community to donate non perishable food to help keep the programme going.

SOS Children's Villages launches family support programme in Mthatha
Story 3
SOS Children's Villages has launched a new Community Family Empowerment programme in Mthatha to help prevent children from being separated from their families.
The programme will help families earn sustainable incomes, strengthen parenting and caregiving skills, and establish community child protection forums to identify and support children who may be at risk.
It builds on the organisation's flood recovery project, which has already assisted almost 260 families with food parcels, clothing, temporary shelters and cash vouchers after the devastating floods in the area.
SOS Children's Villages says addressing poverty, unemployment and weak support systems will help more children remain safely with their families and communities.
