Community Saves Zoo Lake Pool Future
Story 2
Friends of Zoo Lake Pool has launched a R400,000 fundraising campaign to repair leaking pipes at the Zoo Lake public pool in Johannesburg before the 2026/27 swimming season.
The ageing infrastructure is causing significant water loss and could prevent the pool from reopening if repairs are not completed by 1 September.
Residents are raising funds to replace the pipes and preserve one of Johannesburg's few municipal outdoor pools ahead of its 100th anniversary in 2028.
Future fundraising will support additional restoration and maintenance projects.
