A group of rising young athletes from the QuanWessels Brazilian and Mixed Martial Arts Academy in Sunninghill have earned their place on the international stage, following standout performances at the MMA South African National Championships.

Several members of the team have been selected to represent South Africa at the prestigious International Mixed Martial Arts Federation Youth World Championships, taking place in Abu Dhabi this July.

The IMMAF Youth World Championships is the premier stage for young mixed martial artists aged 8 to 17, bringing together top athletes from across the globe.

The Icons journey Marathon will return to the Eastern Cape this Mandela Month.
The founder of the Icon’s Journey Marathon, Nkosi Vulithuba Sangoni, recently hosted a media launch at the Nelson Mandela Museum in Mthatha to outline preparations for the upcoming race.

Sangoni announced that all eyes will be on the Eastern Cape as the Icon’s Journey Foundation, in partnership with Absa Bank, the National Department of Arts and Culture, the Nelson Mandela Museum and the Eastern Cape Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, presents the 5th edition of the world’s longest liberation marathon.
Participants will have the unique opportunity to run through and visit the birthplaces of some of South Africa’s most notable liberation icons.

International sailor, Nqoba Mswazi, has launched MH Performance Sailing, a bold new initiative designed to ignite interest, elevate skills and create sustainable pathways for young South African sailors.

The programme marks a significant turning point for the sport of sailing in the country, with a mission rooted in transformation, development and inclusivity.

The initiative will focus on identifying talented young sailors from historically marginalised communities, equipping them with world-class coaching, resources and mentorship.

The programme is expected to roll out in key coastal areas including Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, where sailing culture is already present but not fully inclusive.
