The Santa Shoebox Project, which is celebrating its 20th birthday this year, is looking for volunteers to help share the joy in their local communities.
CEO Deb Zelezniak says over the last 20 years, more than 1.3 million Santa Shoeboxes, containing specified items, have been given to underprivileged children across the country.

Let’s Play initiative invest over R40mill in school sport

MultiChoice says its Let’s Play initiative has invested more than R40 million in school sport across South Africa, reaching over 117,000 children in 2025.
As part of the programme, the company has handed over a new multipurpose sports court to St Mary’s Secondary School in Mahikeng.
The facility allows learners to play seven-a-side soccer, netball, modified hockey and volleyball on safe, on-site grounds.
The handover follows a physical education training programme that equipped educators to deliver structured and inclusive sport lessons.

Around 18-thousand women and girls will take part in the SPAR Women’s Challenge in Green Point, Cape Town in March.
The 10km Run, 10km Walk and the 5km Fun Run and Walk are open to various age groups.
Participants will compete for prizes including R35,000 in vouchers and a brand new car, while supporting local charities through the SPAR Petals Project.
Under this year’s theme #CelebrateHer, the event highlights women’s strength, resilience, and community, creating a space for fitness, recognition, and joy.
