Black Coffee donates school uniforms and shoes in Soweto

Black Coffee, real name Nkosinathi Maphumulo, has donated school uniforms and shoes to learners at Thabisang Primary School in Orlando West, Soweto.
The donation was part of the Black Coffee Foundation’s 2026 school campaign, launched in partnership with Gautrain.
Last Friday the foundation also introduced the Gift of Sight initiative, which screened learners for vision problems to support early intervention.
The foundation says through these programmes, it aims to equip learners with essential school supplies and vision support to start the academic year prepared.

Cape Town will host the inaugural Cape Town International Piano Competition in March 2027.
Presented by Cape Piano, the event will bring 30 pianists to compete over four live rounds.
The competition will award over 1-million-rand in prize money and offer concert engagements.
Applications open from 1 April to 1 August this year.

Pikachu Illustrator Pokémon card sold for R314 million at auction

YouTuber and wrestler Logan Paul has sold a Pikachu Illustrator Pokémon card for about R314 million through auction house Goldin, setting a record for a trading card sale.
He bought the card in 2021 for about R101 million.
The Pikachu Illustrator card was awarded to winners of a 1998 Pokémon illustration contest in Japan, making it one of the scarce cards produced.
A Guinness World Records adjudicator confirmed it as the most expensive trading card sold at auction.
