Story 2
South Africa has launched the inaugural Tangible EdTech Awards to recognise teachers and organisations using low-tech tools to teach coding in resource-limited schools.
The awards support efforts to bridge the digital divide by equipping thousands of learners with practical coding skills.
The Tangible programme began in 2017 as a Nelson Mandela University BSc Honours project and has since expanded into classrooms nationwide.
Nelson Mandela University’s Professor Christa Grobler says the programme's reach shows the impact of academic innovation beyond the campus.
