Three Cheetah Cubs Born in Zambia Highlight Cross-Border Conservation Success
Story 3
Lolelunga Private Reserve in Zambia has welcomed three healthy cheetah cubs, the first ever born on the country’s first fully fenced private reserve.
The cubs are part of a cross-border conservation initiative, with their parents relocated from South Africa’s, in Gauteng and Limpopo, as part of a long-term rewilding programme.
With Zambia’s wild cheetah population estimated at fewer than 100, every birth is a crucial step for the species’ survival, making this milestone especially significant.
Reserve staff and monitoring teams are supporting the mother cheetah, ensuring the cubs’ safety and wellbeing during these critical early months.
The births demonstrate the impact of careful planning, collaboration, and dedication to conservation.
