Learners at Crawford International Sandton Preparatory have collected more than 22 000 Easter eggs for children in need through a mini-council initiative.
The project, led by young school leaders, brought together learners, teachers and families in a community effort aimed at supporting vulnerable children across Johannesburg.
The initiative forms part of a wider programme encouraging leadership and service among learners, while also teaching empathy through hands on involvement. The Easter eggs will be distributed to various charities working with disadvantaged communities.

Eight South African learners head to NASA space design competition

Eight South African learners are heading to NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre after being selected to represent the country at an international space design competition in Florida.
The group earned their place after taking part in the South African Space Design Competition finals at the University of Cape Town, where more than 100 learners collaborated on designing a fictional lunar city.
The selected team stood out for their problem solving, leadership and teamwork, and will now join students from around the world to tackle real aerospace design challenges.
At the NASA based competition, they will work in international teams over several days to develop and present space settlement designs to industry experts and engineers.

Randburg women raise funds for Mandela Day feeding drive

Women gathered at Syringa Café in Bromhof, Randburg, for a creative fundraiser supporting the Belly to Brain non profit organisation ahead of Mandela Day.
The event, hosted by the South African Council for Business Women, combined networking and craft activities to raise funds for a goal of 20 000 sandwiches for vulnerable children.
The organisation, which supports children with food and basic essentials, plans to distribute the meals to several beneficiaries on Mandela Day in July.
Organisers say the initiative helps bring the community together while supporting children facing food insecurity.
