The Services SETA has introduced a new Project Management Unit to improve how skills training programmes are delivered in South Africa.
The initiative was introduced at a workshop in Tshwane, bringing together government and sector stakeholders to address long standing implementation challenges.
The aim is to fix delays and inefficiencies that have affected some training projects, including late completion and slow certification processes.
The unit will help make sure programmes are properly managed, finished on time and that funding is used effectively.
Officials say the focus is to turn skills development funding into real training opportunities that lead to jobs.

Verulam Secondary School in KwaZulu Natal has benefited from a new borehole system installed through a partnership between Shoprite and Gift of the Givers.
The project was introduced after ongoing water supply challenges in the eThekwini region disrupted school operations.
The system now provides clean water for drinking and sanitation at the school, while also supporting nearby residents through controlled access. School leaders say it has improved attendance and made daily learning activities more consistent.

The small Northern Cape town of Hopetown is celebrating one of its own after Arthur Jantjies claimed a surprise victory at the 2026 Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon.
The 25 year old, who was relatively unknown before the race, won the 56 kilometre ultra marathon in a time of 3 hours 9 minutes and 25 seconds, beating several top favourites.
It was his debut at the event, where he surged ahead in the later stages to secure a breakthrough win and establish himself on the national running scene.
Residents gathered to give him a hero’s welcome on his return, with his victory bringing pride to the small Orange River town.
