CHOC Receives Funding To Support Children

The CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa has received funding to support its work with children and teenagers affected by cancer and life-threatening blood disorders.
The organisation received more than R2.2 million from the 2026 Comrades Marathon charity drive.
The funds will help CHOC continue supporting young patients and their families with free emotional and medical support during treatment and recovery.
The money was raised through contributions from runners, supporters and donors.

The South African Heart Association took its Check My Beat campaign to Bara Taxi Rank in Johannesburg yesterday, giving taxi drivers access to cardiovascular screenings and health education.
The initiative formed part of Heart Awareness Month and brought preventative health checks closer to drivers at their workplace.
Drivers were screened for blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose, and received advice on heart health.
Those who completed the screenings also received personalised AI-generated songs carrying heart-health messages.
