New Sports Facility Opens At Evaton School

Deputy Sport, Arts and Culture Minister Peace Mabe has handed over a new multipurpose sports facility at ED Mashabane Secondary School in Evaton, Gauteng.
The facility includes a combi court for soccer, basketball, netball, volleyball and tennis, along with an outdoor gym and children’s play area.
Sports apparel, equipment and books were also distributed to three local schools.
The investment is aimed at giving learners more opportunities to develop their sporting talents and participate in different codes.

Foundation Phase learners at St Michael’s School for Girls in Bloemfontein have turned used shopper bags into creative outfits as part of a recycled fashion challenge.
The girls used bags from Checkers, Woolworths and Pick n Pay to create skirts, handbags, headpieces, bows and other designs.
The activity encouraged creativity while teaching learners about sustainability and showing how everyday waste can be reused instead of being thrown away.

Mobile Libraries Bring Books To Children In Diepsloot

The Dainfern Community Workshop and Bags of Love have delivered four mobile libraries to the Wot-If? Trust at the Father Louis Blondel Centre in Diepsloot.
The specially designed bookcases are stocked with around 300 children’s books donated by Dainfern residents and will be used at the centre and school events to encourage reading.
The centre provides free services to about 2,000 community members each month, including homework support.
