A church in Ferndale is collecting sanitary pads to help schoolgirls who struggle to afford menstrual products.
The Fellowship Full Gospel Church donated more than 250 packets to schools in Zandspruit last year and is now targeting 1,000 packets.
The drive aims to support schools in Zandspruit, Cosmo City, Kya Sands and Ferndale, helping girls stay in class during their periods.
Donations can be dropped off at the church at 311 Pine Avenue in Ferndale.

Ballito Community Asked To Support Santa Shoebox

The Santa Shoebox Project is calling on communities in Ballito to help put Christmas gifts into the hands of 1,600 children across KwaDukuza.
This year’s campaign is targeting 28 facilities that have not previously received Santa Shoebox gifts.
People can pledge a complete shoebox with clothing, toiletries, school supplies, sweets and a toy, or make a monetary donation.
Pledges are now open, with drop-off information available online.

Khayelitsha Libraries Bring Stories To Families

Khayelitsha libraries are taking storytelling into the community, bringing books and literacy activities closer to families.
The City of Cape Town partnered with Khayelitsha Day Hospital for the 1 000 Stories initiative, where library teams held storytelling sessions and activities for children and caregivers.
The programme encourages parents to share stories with children before they start school, helping them build vocabulary, comprehension and a relationship with books.
The initiative is also reaching families outside traditional library spaces, including through the hospital partnership and literacy programmes in local schools.
