Discovery Primary School earned third place at the 11th annual National Education Excellence Awards, held at the Sandton Convention Centre. The recognition highlights the school’s standing as one of South Africa’s leading full-service schools.
Principal Raymond Peters credited the school’s success to the commitment of teachers, staff, parents, and learners.
As a full-service school, Discovery focuses on academic excellence, extracurricular activities, and the mental, physical, and emotional well-being of its students.
The school also provides on-site therapists, counsellors, and social workers, supporting learners with mid-intellectual disabilities and ensuring a holistic, inclusive approach to education.
Peters emphasised that hard work and determination remain the keys to the school’s ongoing success.

South African gymnast Caitlin Rooskrantz delivered a standout performance at the Paris World Challenge Cup, finishing fourth in the uneven bars final.
Her personal best international score marks a strong return to the world stage after a floor injury cut short her 2024 Olympic campaign.
Rooskrantz competed alongside teammates Buhle Nhleko, Zelmé Daries and Naveen Daries, with Daries placing 12th in the vault and Nhleko 16th.
The championship featured top international talent, including Olympic champion Kaylia Nemour, who claimed gold in the uneven bars.

Apple Music has launched its new Alpha playlist across Africa, with Nigerian star Ayra Starr as the first cover artist.
The playlist is dedicated to showcasing female musicians from across the continent, giving greater visibility to their contributions in a variety of genres.
Each week, a new African female artist will be featured.
The debut lineup includes Ghanaian R&B singer Gyakie and Nigerian newcomer Salle, alongside Starr whose latest single Hot Body leads the collection.
