Cape Town has officially opened its 2025/26 cruise season, with the docking of the largest private residential yacht at the Cape Town Cruise Terminal.
The event marks the beginning of summer for the city's tourism industry and international recognition for the terminal, which was recently ranked 12th among the world’s most scenic cruise ports in a recent eye-tracking study.
More than 70 cruise ships are set to sail into the Cape Town Cruise Terminal over the next two months.

Rhodes University announces 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients

Rhodes University vice-chancellor, professor Sizwe Mabizela, has announced the 2025 recipients of the coveted Distinguished Alumni Award.
The recipients include professor Michael Davies-Coleman, known for his research in bio-chemistry, renowned figure in South African sports administration, John Donald and leading figure in the country’s automotive industry, Billy Eric Tom.
Mabizela says the individuals have significantly contributed to their respective fields and have upheld the university’s academic excellence and leadership legacy.
