According to data from StatsSA, in July 2025, production rose by 1% from the previous month and 4.4% compared with last year, helped by stronger power supply and favourable weather.
Demand from Asia, especially China and India, boosted sales of iron ore, copper, and PGMs.
Though overall output remains below pre-Covid levels, the sector added momentum to the economy, which grew 0.8% quarter-on-quarter.
