Tshwane’s Finances Steady as Revenue Rises by R777 Million

The City of Tshwane has recorded a 2% improvement in revenue collection over the past seven months, boosting its income by R777.5 million.
Deputy Mayor Eugene Modise announced the gain during his 2025/26 budget speech on Thursday, crediting improved billing, collections, and interest earned for the growth.
Modise said the city’s finances are stable, and for now, there’s no need to borrow—thanks to a fully funded budget.
The capital budget stands at R2.4 billion, with R52.2 billion allocated for operations and R7.4 billion in grants.
The budget focuses on six strategic areas, including financial stability, infrastructure, safety, and attracting investment.
Modise added that efforts were made to keep tariffs fair and affordable for residents.

With many individuals facing the harsh conditions of winter without adequate shelter, RHA aims to provide essential support through shelters and outreach programs.
Donations can be dropped off at the RMD office in Rosebank Mall or directly at Immaculata Shelter on Sturdee Avenue.
With Mandela Day approaching, the initiative also includes a call for fabric for a community sewing project and old computers to support digital learning.
