Two women from Tsakani, east of Johannesburg, have launched a community initiative aimed at connecting and supporting women across Gauteng.
Thando Twala and Lerato Makhetha started The Ruth Collective Sisterhood to create spaces where women can meet, share experiences and discuss personal and social challenges.
The focuses on issues such as self-confidence, identity and personal development.
The group recently hosted a community hike at Thaba Eco Hotel, where 102 women took part in group activities and discussions.
The founders say they plan to grow the initiative by hosting more events and creating regional and online groups so women from different communities can connect and support one another.
