The Garden Route's Eden Surfriders claimed the prestigious Vic Bay Quad trophy in memory of surfer John Pfaff after a weekend of intense competition and standout performances.The event saw surfers from Eden, Cape Town, Buffalo City and Cape Winelands compete across several divisions, with the overall honours going to the home team.
Cape Town's Emily Jenkinson won the Open Women's title, while Eden Surfriders celebrated the biggest prize of all by emerging as overall champions of one of South Africa's premier inter-club surfing events.

The Society for Animals in Distress (SAID) has been recognised in the prestigious 2026 African Excellence Awards, receiving both the Mobile Veterinary Outreach Organisation of the Year and the Animal Welfare Excellence Award.The honours recognise the life-changing work of the SAID Mobile Veterinary Clinic, which has been operating since 2024 and brings critical veterinary care directly to impoverished and vulnerable communities across Gauteng.
The organisation's fundraising coordinator said the recognition also highlights the urgent need for accessible sterilisation services in underserved communities.

Two young entrepreneurs from the Eastern Cape are offering a potential solution to rising fuel costs through their company, Style-E Mobility.The business has developed electric motorbikes powered by rechargeable batteries instead of petrol engines. The innovators say the bikes could help delivery drivers and motorists reduce operating costs while easing dependence on fuel. Style-E Mobility CEO Mzingisi Mangqukela says the goal is to make transport both more accessible and more sustainable.
