Sandton Rea Vaya 55% Complete

The Johannesburg Development Agency announced that the Sandton Rea Vaya station is 55% complete. This phase promises to bring 141 low-entry buses, 13 new stations, and safe, affordable public transport to more than 40 000 passengers. Operating areas will be Sandton, Marlboro, Wynberg, Hillbrow, Yeoville, Orange Grove, and Greenstone. Two bus depots, one in Alexandra and another in Selby, are being developed to house and maintain the growing fleet. The newly established Alexandra Bus Company will operate services for Phase 1C (a), ushering in a new era of community-driven transit. JDA CEO Themba Mathibe says that the Sandton and Gandhi stations are each 55% complete, while Katherine Street station, a prototype inspired by the low-floor design of the Johannesburg Art Gallery station, showcases the innovation behind this rollout.

12 Year Old Protects Environment

At just 12 years old, Prasiddhi from India is leading a powerful movement to protect the environment. Since starting her tree-planting efforts at age 7, she has planted over 150,000 trees and created 14 “fruit forests” in schools, offices, and community spaces. Prasiddhi founded the Prasiddhi Forest Foundation, which runs workshops and events to teach people how to generate oxygen, grow food, and give back to their communities. Her work includes restoring mangroves and lakes and speaking at major events like the UN Climate Change Summit.
