Kyalami knitters stitch warmth for communities in need
Story 1
Knit and Natter Kyalami is helping keep vulnerable people warm this winter by knitting beanies, scarves and blankets for donation to schools, charity homes and mothers with newborn babies.
The community initiative brings together about 25 volunteers each month to knit while supporting a range of local causes. What started as a project to teach practical knitting skills to young people has grown into a network that combines creativity with community care.
The group says the initiative has also created lasting friendships while making a meaningful difference to those in need.

Humpback whale population makes remarkable recovery
Teaser / Tailpiece story
The global recovery of humpback whales continues to gather momentum, with the population migrating along Brazil's coastline increasing from about 2 000 in 1986 to an estimated 35 000 today.
Each year between June and November, the whales travel thousands of kilometres from their Antarctic feeding grounds to the warm breeding waters of the Abrolhos Bank, one of the Atlantic Ocean's most biodiverse marine regions.
The resurgence is also boosting eco tourism, with whale watching becoming increasingly popular, while conservationists say the recovery is a powerful example of how decades of protection can help endangered wildlife rebound.
