Mandela Day Food Initiative
Story 1
To celebrate Mandela Day, South Africans are invited to join a national act of kindness by turning surplus food into nourishment for those in need.
Chefs with Compassion's #67-thousand-litres campaign is back for its sixth year aiming to cook 100-thousand litres of soup to feed 400-thousand people.
The initiative encourages everyone to get involved, whether by cooking, donating, or spreading the word.
Since 2020, the campaign has cooked over 450,000 litres of soup serving more than 1.8 million cups to hungry South Africans.
The goal is to not only feed people on Mandela Day but also raise funds to sustain Chefs with Compassion's work throughout the year.
