Delhi Teenagers Win International Peace Prize for Waste Management
Teaser / Tailpiece story
Two brothers from New Delhi, Vihaan and Nav Agarwal, have won the International Children’s Peace Prize for their work improving waste management in the city.
They began separating waste at home after air pollution worsened Vihaan’s asthma, and later expanded the project to around 3,000 households.
Their nonprofit, OneStepGreener, recycles plastic, paper and electronic waste, and plants trees to cut pollution. The group says it has recycled about two million pounds of waste.
Nav Agarwal says their success in Delhi shows similar programmes could work in other cities.
