Story 2
University of Pretoria veterinary students from OP Village RAG are dedicating their time to raising funds to support endangered birds.
Through their efforts, last years the students have raised nearly R70,000 for the Dyer Island Conservation Trust and its African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary.
They organised fundraising events and sold merchandise to support projects such as creating artificial nests for endangered African penguins.
The initiative also helps educate the public about threats to these seabirds, including habitat loss, food shortages, and human disturbances.
OP Village RAG selects an animal charity each year, combining student-led fundraising with awareness and conservation initiatives.
