Township Micro Enterprises to benefit from digital transformation programme

A digital transformation and financial education training programme for township-based micro enterprises will take place in Katlehong on the 26th of August and in Daveyton on the 23rd of September.

The sessions organised by Visa in partnership with the Township Entrepreneurs Agency, will offer practical skills on the implementation of secure digital payment methods, the adoption of simple digital tools for stock and customer management, and how to leverage social media for business growth.

The programme targets both CIPC-registered small and micro-enterprises and informal traders, recognizing the significant role the businesses play in employment and community resilience within townships.

Over 1,900 new SAPS Constables graduate in Bhisho

The South African Police Service has welcomed over one thousand nine hundred new Constable graduates in Bhisho, in the Eastern Cape.

Acting Police Minister, Professor Feroz Cachalia and National Police Commissioner, Fannie Masemola, welcomed the new recruits during a large passing out-parade, marking the end of their Introductory Police Development Learning Programme.

The graduates hold post matric qualifications which include criminology, policing, law and various other fields of study.

Rhodes University will officially name its iconic Law Building in honour of one of its most distinguished alumni and outgoing Chancellor, Justice Lex Mpati.

This is in celebration of the University's 120th anniversary, marking more than a century of unparalleled academic excellence and profound contributions to the South African legal landscape.

Mpati, who has served as Chancellor for 13 years, says he is proud of the transformation journey he has witnessed at the university.

UP Ranked 1st in South Africa and second across Africa for AI Research

The University of Pretoria has been ranked first in South Africa and second in Africa for artificial intelligence research, according to the latest EduRank higher education rankings.

The analysis is based on over 61-thousand-200 academic papers and 969-thousand citations from 24 South African universities.

The university’s professor Sunil Maharaj says the ranking confirms the institution’s role as a leader in developing AI technologies that are impactful, ethical and relevant.
