8,000 join 120km breast cancer awareness challenge

More than 8,000 people have registered for the 120km breast cancer awareness challenge, a six-week virtual event that been running from 11 April and this will be until 24 May 2026.
Participants run or walk a total of 120 kilometres from any location.
Each kilometre logged helps fund breast cancer education and screening programmes for women in underserved communities in South Africa.
Organisers launched the challenge during the Two Oceans Marathon period to keep runners active through the local racing season.

Gcobolwethu Dlova earns Naledi nomination

Reddam House Helderfontein Grade 12 learner Gcobolwethu Dlova has been nominated for a Naledi Theatre Award for her performance in the school’s 2025 production of Radio City.
She was nominated in the category Best Performance by a Student in a Student Theatre Production, recognising her role as Skye.
The Naledi Theatre Awards, which recognise achievement in South African theatre, were held on 23 March at the South African State Theatre in Pretoria.
Dlova’s nomination places her among emerging student performers recognised at a national level.

Business and development partners are meeting in Johannesburg for the 2026 National Local Economic Development Summit to explore new ways to support small businesses and boost township entrepreneurship.
The 2-day summit which started yesterday, hosted by the Department of Small Business Development, focus on improving access to funding, reducing barriers to doing business and strengthening local economies.
Key discussions look at how to unlock job creation, improve service delivery and support MSMEs and cooperatives, particularly in townships, rural and informal areas.
Small Business Development Minister, Stella Ndabeni say the aim is to turn local economic development into practical action that drives inclusive growth:
