Organisers say this year’s programme will also include workshops and sector focused events aimed at helping creators build sustainable businesses and unlock new income streams.

Karen Kennedy completes historic quadruple Robben Island swim

Karen Kennedy has become the first woman to complete a quadruple Robben Island crossing in skins, covering nearly 30 kilometres between Bloubergstrand and Robben Island in just over 10 hours without a wetsuit.
The 59 year old former provincial swimmer completed four icy Atlantic crossings supported by a crew and fuelled by rooibos tea and honey, while battling strong currents and cold conditions.
The achievement is now awaiting official confirmation from Guinness World Records and is being praised as a major display of endurance and determination.

The National Local Economic Development Summit in Ekurhuleni is focusing on practical ways to help small businesses grow, after President Cyril Ramaphosa called for municipalities to speed up approvals, improve infrastructure and make it easier for entrepreneurs to operate.
Speaking at the Birchwood Conference Centre, he said reliable water, electricity and safer trading spaces can help unlock jobs and attract investment in townships, towns and rural communities.
The push is expected to strengthen local economies and create more opportunities where people live.
