Daveyton Learners Celebrate Literacy And Culture

One hundred and sixty six learners from nine Daveyton primary schools took part in the inaugural Phamisa Buka Literacy and Cultural Festival.
Hosted by the Phamisa Buka Foundation, the event featured spelling, read aloud and cultural performance competitions, giving learners a platform to develop their skills and creativity.
Moshoeshoe Primary learners won both the Spelling Bee and read aloud competitions, while Ntsikana Primary took first place for cultural performances.

Kuyasa Dogs Receive Colourful New Kennels

Ten dogs in Kuyasa, Hermanus, have received colourful new kennels after a local community came together to give wooden dog houses a fresh coat of paint.
Wags n Whiskers was gifted the 10 kennels by The Dogbox Project and Whale Coast Mall to provide shelter for dogs in need.
The owners of the 10 dogs also received dog food and water bowls, while two unsterilised dogs were given kennels after their owners agreed to have them sterilised.

Ancient Iron Furnace Comes To Life In Augmented Reality

The University of Johannesburg will bring an ancient iron furnace to life in augmented reality at Museum Africa in Newtown on Heritage Day.
The furnace was used at Melville Koppies between 1060 and 1580, centuries before Johannesburg became a mining city.
Visitors will be able to use their smartphones to see a detailed digital reconstruction of the furnace, with narration in English, Afrikaans, isiZulu and seTswana.
The launch takes place on 24 September.
