Foundation Opens Aerospace Career Opportunities

The Africa Aerospace and Defence Youth Development Foundation aims to expose learners and graduates to careers in aerospace and defence, while creating links to internships, bursaries and other opportunities.
The initiative targets about 3,000 Grade 9 to 11 learners, as well as selected Grade 12s, through its youth development programme.
It comes as the Africa Aerospace and Defence Expo gets underway in Tshwane this week.
Chairperson of the foundation, Kholisile Khumalo, says the aerospace and defence sector offers a wide range of opportunities, including for young people who are not studying science:

Cape Town Libraries Win Four Awards

Four Cape Town libraries have won Western Cape Cultural Affairs Awards for programmes supporting literacy, digital skills, multilingual reading and climate responses.
The City’s Library and Information Services won for its 1,000 Stories before School programme, which has grown to more than 20,000 participants.
Brackenfell and Athlone libraries were recognised for digital literacy and multilingual reading, while Sir Lowry’s Pass Library won for its climate-focused Cool Space project.
The awards recognise the work of public libraries in supporting learning and communities across the Western Cape.

Santa Shoebox Targets 1,600 KwaDukuza Children

The Santa Shoebox Project is calling on communities in Ballito to help put Christmas gifts into the hands of 1,600 children across KwaDukuza.
This year’s campaign is targeting 28 facilities that have not previously received Santa Shoebox gifts.
People can pledge a complete shoebox with clothing, toiletries, school supplies, sweets and a toy, or make a monetary donation.
Pledges are now open, with drop-off information available online.
