E-hailing services officially recognized as public transport

E-hailing services, like Uber and bolt are now officially recognized as legal forms of public transport.
This after the Transport Department gazetted the National Land Transport Amendment Act on Friday.
E-hailing services are now expected to have operating licenses, the vehicles must be branded to indicate which company they are affiliated with, and they must also have a safety feature like panic buttons.
Under the act e-hailing vehicles will now operate in defined geographic zones.

National Wills Week 2025

The National Wills Week has been launched.
The campaign which runs from today until Friday, offers members of the public free assistance with drafting basic wills through participating attorneys nationwide.
This initiative is by the Justice and Constitutional Development in partnership with the Law Society of South Africa and Legal Aid South Africa.
Justice and Constitutional Development Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi says drafting a valid Will remains one of the most important steps individuals can take to protect their families:

City2City Ultra Marathon 2025 officially launched

The City2City Ultra Marathon 2025 has kicked off, with top runners gearing up for the challenging 50km ultra-marathon.
The event, scheduled for 28-September, will see athletes run from Marlboro Gautrain Station to Pilditch Stadium in Tshwane, with a record prize purse of R1.2 million up for grabs.
The winner of the 50km ultra-marathon will take home R200,000.
With over 735 entries already sold, the City2City Ultra Marathon promises to be an exciting event for runners and spectators alike.

Nigerian Chef, Hilda Baci has broken the World Record for the Largest Pot of Jollof Rice, following an eight-hour cooking session.
It’s her latest world record bid after successfully going to record books in 2023 for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
The cooking session was held at an open field in the commercial hub, Lagos, and attracted hundreds of onlookers.
The pot is 6 meters wide and has the capacity to contain 250-bags of rice.
