Johannesburg hosted the Classics on Turf event series, a bold new South African event series that brings together the elegance of classical music with the vibrancy of sport.

Presented in partnership with the information and communications technology provider Telkom, the series embodies a shared vision of honouring tradition while reimagining the future through creativity and innovation.

The collaboration unlocked new dimensions of cultural connection and inclusive experiences.

The series draws inspiration from the life of founder Zwelibanzi Mntambo, whose first encounters with classical music in Soweto have shaped a lifelong passion.

The Gauteng local government says plans are underway for the expansion of the Gautrain system to areas including Soweto, Fourways, Roodepoort and Mamelodi.

The Gautrain expansion project plans to add up to 300 kilometers of rail lines, connecting underserved areas to key economic hubs.

The initiative aims to extend the existing 80-kilometer system, integrating new routes to enhance connectivity and support sustainable development.

The project will generate substantial economic returns creating more than 125,000 jobs during construction.

The Southern African Large Telescope celebrated 20 years on the 10th of November.

SALT remains the largest optical telescope in the Southern Hemisphere and is responsible for a number of new discoveries, from Black holes to observing a kilo-nova.
