The City of Johannesburg has secured a major grant of R548 million from the Invest International Public Programmes, a leading Dutch development finance institution.

The funding marks a new chapter in the City's commitment to sustainable waste management through the Alternative Waste Treatment Technology Project, a game changing initiative that aims to revolutionise how Johannesburg handles its waste.
The project will serve as a cornerstone of the City's Integrated Waste Management Plan and align with the National Waste Management Strategy and South Africa's Just Energy Transition Partnership goals.

The signing ceremony took place in Sandton, alongside the G20 Trade Ministerial.

The National Business Initiative has launched the Installation, Repair and Maintenance Initiative,
a national programme connecting township youth, TVET students and small enterprises with opportunities in the green economy.

The initiative introduces three digital tools including the Green Economy Toolkit, Installation, Repair and Maintenance hub portal, and learning app, to support training, business growth, and certification.

Over the next two months, initiative aims to register 100-thousand young people and Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises across multiple regions.

JMPD announces temporary road closures across Johannesburg ahead of G20 Summit

The Johannesburg Metro Police Department has announced temporary road closures around Nasrec today.
The closures will be enforced from 09h00 am to 01h00 pm as part of traffic measures leading up to the G20 leaders Summit, which will be held at the Nasrec Expo centre later this month.

Some of the affected routes will include parts of the Mike 1, Nasrec and Randshow Road, Eldorado park offramp, the Golden highway and Soweto Highway.

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes such as Chris Hani road, Main Reef road, the N17 and Adcock Ingram road.
