The Marketing and communications manager at the Tourism Authority Barbra Gaoganediwe says the sector stands to contribute largely to the province's economy through the summit.

World-renowned Artist Esther Mahlangu receives prestigious national award

The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture has honoured the world-renowned artist Esther Mahlangu with the Van Toeka Af Living Legends Recognition on Tuesday.

The Deputy minister of the department, Peace Mabe, hosted the Series in honour of Mahlangu, who is a celebrated Living Legend and custodian of South Africa’s cultural and artistic heritage.

The Living Legends Recognition is a government initiative launched in 2023 to honour individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to South Africa’s arts and cultural heritage.

Mahlangu has established the Esther Mahlangu Art School in her village, dedicated to preserving and passing on traditional Ndebele painting techniques to younger generations.
