The Joburg Market is today hosting the World Union of Wholesale Markets Conference at the Sandton Convention Centre with more than 20 countries in attendance.

The global event aims to elevate the recognition of South Africa’s largest fresh produce market, highlighting its capabilities and contributions to agricultural trade while facilitating networking with key stakeholders in the global agricultural sector.

Member of the Mayoral Committee for Economic Development, Cllr Nomoya Mnisi, says the conference will mark a defining moment for Johannesburg and the continent.

The Central Energy Fund has handed over R5 billion in funding to the newly established South African National Petroleum Company.

Three of the CEF Group subsidiaries including iGas, the Strategic Fuel Fund and PetroSA have been merged to form the SANPC in a process which began in 2020.

The formation of the petroleum company follows President Ramaphosa’s State of the Nation Address in 2020, where he emphasized stabilizing and refocusing State-Owned Entities to drive economic growth.

South African relay team arrives at the OR Tambo International Airport

The South African relay team that recently concluded the World Relay Championships in China, arrived at the OR Tambo International Airport yesterday.

The team won both the men’s relay finals and were placed third in the women’s 4 by 400meters at the recently concluded World Relay Championships.

The two-day event served as a qualifier for the World Championships in Tokyo in September.
