The Germiston Bedfordview SPCA has provided food, vaccinations and basic care to 117 animals during a community outreach held in Moleleki Ext 2, Katlehong.
The initiative, supported by SkyJacks and local veterinary partners, included rabies vaccinations, sterilisation services, and the distribution of collars, leashes and blankets to promote responsible pet ownership.
During the outreach, more than 100 chickens were also rescued after being found packed in poor conditions in a bakkie and later taken in for urgent care.
Officials say the programme helps improve animal welfare while reducing neglect and distress in vulnerable communities.

Hundreds of learners in the Free State will now be going to school in proper shoes following a donation of 1 300 pairs to schools across the province.
The donation by the 1 Million School Shoes Campaign, together with the Free State Department of Education and the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, saw the shoes distributed to 19 schools in the Matjhabeng and Masilonyana local municipalities.
