Joburg tourism film wins silver award

Joburg Tourism has won a Silver Certificate at the International Tourism Film Festival Africa 2026 for its “Welcome2Joburg” destination film.
The film was selected as a finalist from 438 entries submitted from 47 countries and highlights Johannesburg’s tourism, culture and business offering.
The award was presented at the festival in recognition of the film’s role in promoting the city as a travel destination.

MANCOSA donates mobile libraries to schools

Four primary schools in KuGompo City in the Eastern Cape have each received three mobile libraries from MANCOSA to support teaching and learning.
The schools have been affected by delays in receiving reading materials from the education department and a lack of fixed libraries.

Soweto programme marks uprising anniversary milestone

The four-day programme in Soweto concludes tomorrow, 16 June 2026, marking 50 years since the 1976 Uprising while promoting local tourism and business activity.
The “76 Hours in Soweto” programme, led by Jozi My Jozi with community and tourism partners, has featured film screenings, youth markets, career expos and dialogue sessions since 13 June.
It will end with a commemorative walk along the 1976 student route, followed by events on Vilakazi Street featuring local businesses, artists and performers.
