The Sandton SPCA is asking the community to donate unwanted household items and books to help fund its animal welfare work.
The organisation sells donated goods through its charity shop and second-hand bookstore, raising between R200,000 and R250,000 a month for rescue operations, sterilisation programmes, vaccinations, and animal rehoming.
The SPCA also collects donations from residents who cannot transport items to the shop.

Applications for the second Bindzu Youth Fund are now open for young South African entrepreneurs, with entries closing on 17 July 2026.
The Mr Price Foundation programme provides business training, mentorship, coaching and funding to help young businesses grow.
Up to 1,000 entrepreneurs will take part in an online business academy, with the top 27 businesses sharing more than R3 million in funding.
Applicants must be between 18 and 34 years old, own at least 51% of a South African business that has been operating for at least 12 months, and have an annual turnover of less than R5 million.

Thusong Youth Centre in Alexandra has recognised 60 children who completed its Holistic Wellness and Fitness Project.
The children received awards after months of training and participation in dance, judo and squash activities.
Top performers earned trophies and belts for their achievements in competitions.
