Noordwyk Parkrun community donates food to support families this winter

The Noordwyk Parkrun community collected non perishable food throughout June to help stock the pantry at Christ Church and support families facing food insecurity this winter.
The donations, including canned goods, mealie meal, rice and sugar, will help feed more than 100 families during July.
Organisers thanked everyone who contributed, saying the community once again showed the power of coming together to help those in need.

Eastern Cape innovator earns global recognition for AI smart glasses

Eastern Cape entrepreneur Elihle Stali has returned from Hong Kong after being selected as one of 150 leading innovators and technology start ups from around the world to take part in a global innovation programme.
The 24 year old founder of Spectacles4TheBlind SA has developed AI powered smart glasses that help people with visual impairments navigate their surroundings using real time voice assistance in English, Afrikaans, isiXhosa, isiZulu and Sesotho.
Stali hopes the innovation will continue improving independence and everyday mobility for people living with visual impairments.
Stali says the experience was fantastic and provided an opportunity to connect with innovators from across the world while showcasing South African innovation on an international stage.

Raising Men of Value Africa and the Mama Monica Foundation joined forces to host a clothing and free haircut drive for residents of the Waterwax informal settlement in Soweto.
Community members received donated clothing, while boys and young men enjoyed free haircuts sponsored by McDonald's through the Mobile Barber initiative.
The outreach aimed to restore dignity, inspire hope and support vulnerable families through compassion and community collaboration.
