Climbers Scale Kilimanjaro for Girls

A group of climbers is preparing to scale Mount Kilimanjaro as part of this year’s Trek4Mandela expedition, which supports efforts to address period poverty among schoolgirls.
The annual challenge raises funds for the Imbumba Foundation’s Caring4Girls programme, which provides menstrual products and health education to learners across Southern Africa.
Since its launch in 2012, Trek4Mandela has used the climb to support girls’ access to education and dignity.
First-time participant Ayanda Ali says encouragement from fellow climbers has strengthened her preparation for the expedition.

Applications for the second Bindzu Youth Fund are now open for young South African entrepreneurs, with entries closing on 17 July 2026.
The Mr Price Foundation programme provides business training, mentorship, coaching and funding to help young businesses grow.
Up to 1,000 entrepreneurs will take part in an online business academy, with the top 27 businesses sharing more than R3 million in funding.
Applicants must be between 18 and 34 years old, own at least 51% of a South African business that has been operating for at least 12 months, and have an annual turnover of less than R5 million.

Schools Unite at Cape Town Festival

Cape Town will host the 2026 Connect Festival of Unity this week, bringing together 14 schools from the United Kingdom and 19 South African schools and clubs.
Young athletes will compete in rugby, hockey and netball while taking part in cultural exchange activities.
Rugby players will also have the chance to be selected for the Global Schools Challenge in Thailand later this year.
The festival uses sport to develop young athletes and create opportunities through competition and skills development.
