100 SA Graduates Head to China for Electric Vehicle Training
Story 2
The Transport Education and Training Authority is sending 100 electrical engineering graduates to China for a 12-month specialised training programme in electric vehicle maintenance.
TETA CEO Maphefo Anno-Frempong says the programme aims to build a strong pipeline of EV technicians as part of South Africa’s energy transition.
Graduates from TVET colleges and universities of technology will gain hands-on experience with Chinese manufacturers and training institutions.
The initiative is part of a five-year plan to develop EV-related qualifications for local institutions and aligns with TETA’s broader focus on green technologies, including hydrogen energy.

Fourways Mall Goes Green with 200 New Trees
Story 3
Fourways Mall is transforming grey pavements into green spaces by planting 200 trees along key roads nearby.
Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo donated the trees to support the mall’s ongoing beautification project, which began after informal traders were relocated to create space.
The planting, led by landscaper Ishmael Mutileni, focuses on Celtis Africana trees—evergreen, low maintenance, and safe for nearby roads.
The new greenery, lining Winnie Mandela Drive, Fourways Boulevard, and Cedar Road, is expected to bloom in a few months, bringing shade, colour, and fresh life to the area.
Mall representative Nicho Mbhumi says the project aims to improve the environment and experience for both locals and visitors.
