Joburg Rolls Out High-Tech Solution to Combat Traffic Light Vandalism

The City of Johannesburg is taking a significant step towards protecting its roads and improving traffic management.
Some traffic lights have been upgraded with cutting-edge vandalism and traffic congestion prevention technologies.
In a media briefing held at the Brixton Multipurpose Centre yesterday MEC for Roads and Transport, Kedibone Diale-Tlabela, Joburg MMC for Transport, Kenny Kunene, and JRA Board CEO, Zweli Nyathi, highlighted the City's latest interventions to prevent traffic vandalism and cable theft.
Speaking at the intersection on Cnr Hendrik Potgieter Rd and Stamperboom St a Joburg Roads Official says various new technologies are currently being tested out at various traffic signals in the City to see which work best:

Afrika Tikkun joyfully hosted its inaugural Disability Empowerment Pageant, Beauty in Ability, on July 11 at The Cirk in Cresta.
This historic event honoured the skill, strength, and self-expression of 20 youngsters with disabilities, providing a compelling counter-narrative to stigma and silence.
The 20 candidates, comprising 10 boys and 10 girls, shared the stage, displaying their bravery and beauty in front of an audience that screamed for them and the judges.
The organisation's Lona Roy says she discovered that the Pageant would empower young people with disabilities by shifting the focus from pity to their abilities and talents.
