ISS Crew Returns After Medical Evacuation
Story 2
Four International Space Station crewmembers returned to Earth on Thursday after the first-ever medical evacuation from the orbiting lab. The capsule carrying Americans Mike Fincke and Zena Cardman, Russian cosmonaut Oleg Platonov, and Japanese astronaut Kimiya Yui splashed down off San Diego at 10:41 am South African time.
NASA says the affected crewmember is stable and the return was planned for medical evaluation, not an emergency.
The crew had spent five months in space. Remaining aboard the station are American Chris Williams and Russian cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergei Mikaev.
The ISS continues to support international research and cooperation, preparing for future missions to the Moon and Mars.

Community Kindness Gives Fourways Gardener a New Set of Wheels
Story 3
A simple online post has turned into a powerful act of community kindness in Fourways.
Resident Rene Theron reached out to a local group looking for affordable repairs for her gardener Daniel Selomo’s bicycle, which had faulty brakes and a damaged suspension.
Instead of just recommendations, support poured in. Cycle Lab and members of the cycling community offered to repair the bicycle at no cost.
When Theron collected it, the bike had been fitted with multiple new parts and looked almost brand new.
Selomo was stunned by the gesture and even offered to pay for the repairs, before learning it was a gift
Theron says the experience highlighted the generosity that still exists within local communities

North America’s largest wildlife overpass opens in Colorado
Teaser / Tailpiece story
Colorado has opened the Greenland Wildlife Overpass over Interstate 25 near Larkspur, helping animals safely cross a busy highway used by around 100,000 vehicles daily.
The overpass, covering about 61 metres wide and 64 metres long, connects 15,800 hectares of wildlife habitat and allows elk, deer, bears, mountain lions, and other species to cross safely. It cost roughly R300 million to build.
Officials say the bridge is expected to reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions by 90%, improving safety for both animals and motorists, marking a major step forward in U.S. wildlife conservation.
