@Our NPO tackles period poverty
Story 1
@Our NPO is tackling period poverty and mentoring young women through community-funded yoga charity events and empowerment programmes.
The Johannesburg based organisation was formed in 2022 by members of the fitness and yoga community, and raises funds through charity classes and directs the proceeds to orphanages, women’s shelters, and skills development initiatives.
In partnership with the Nyeleti Lighthouse Foundation, the group selected 60 girls and young women for its Young Girls and Women’s Self-Empowerment Programme, which began on December 10, 2025.
What started as a response to lockdown hardship now connects volunteers, donors and young women in a growing network of practical support and opportunity.
