Cape Town Launches Digital Learner Licence Testing

The City of Cape Town is rolling out a new computerised learner licence testing system at selected driving licence testing centres from today. The digital system replaces the manual booklet based test and allows applicants to complete the exam on touchscreen screens.
The system goes live today at the Brackenfell and Elsies River centres today, with installations already completed at four sites. The City says the rollout will continue across all testing centres, with full implementation expected by mid February 2026.
Officials say this will improve efficiency, accuracy and accessibility, while supporting a more secure and modern learner licence testing process.
