The Carel du Toit Centre in Cape Town has received a renovated upgrade that is improving support for deaf and hearing impaired children during their early development years.
The upgrades were made possible through partnerships between Rotary clubs, foundations and other donors, helping to refresh learning and therapy spaces at the Tygerberg Hospital based facility.
The centre provides audiology, speech therapy and family support programmes, focusing on early intervention that helps children develop communication skills and confidence.

The Gauteng Department of Health has introduced new measures aimed at reducing long waiting times for surgery in public hospitals.
The department says it is rolling out a digital tracking system to monitor patient queues more effectively, alongside extended theatre hours that will include weekends and after hours for selected procedures.
Other steps include strengthening staffing, improving equipment maintenance and refining referral systems to improve efficiency across hospitals.
Officials say the interventions are aimed at improving access to care and reducing delays for patients needing operations.
