Minister Patricia de Lille has unveiled the upgraded Agulhas Lighthouse Precinct in the Western Cape, with the new development expected to strengthen tourism and bring more economic activity to the area.
The R81.7 million project includes a 60 seater restaurant, interpretation centre and improved visitor amenities, while also creating 117 local jobs and supporting nine small businesses.
The upgrade gives the Overberg region a stronger tourism draw beyond the province’s traditional hotspots.

Big Blanket Project brings warmth to Pretoria East communities

The Big Blanket Project in Pretoria East has grown into a volunteer initiative providing essential warmth to vulnerable communities across the city.
It began in 2022 when two friends started meeting weekly to knit and crochet items for those in need, and has since expanded to more than 30 volunteers gathering at the PHSOB Club every Monday.
The group has produced over a thousand blankets, along with beanies and scarves, which are distributed to shelters, outreach organisations and families affected by hardship.
