Thrift markets turn fashion into funding for education
Story 3
A new pop up thrift market is heading to Cape Town and Johannesburg, encouraging South Africans to shop pre loved fashion while supporting education initiatives in under resourced communities.
The markets, hosted by Vintage with Love in partnership with Workshop17, will see proceeds from every purchase directed towards literacy programmes for children across the country.
Organisers say the initiative promotes circular fashion by extending the life of clothing and reducing textile waste, while also turning everyday shopping into a way of supporting social impact.
The Cape Town market takes place on 16 April, followed by Johannesburg on 21 May 2026.
