Stellenbosch University has invited high school learners from Cape Town to meet and interact with George, its first locally produced humanoid robot.
Learners from six schools watched George respond to instructions, track movements and copy gestures.
The robot was built by the university’s Faculty of Engineering and is being used by students and researchers to explore collaborative robotics.
The university says the visit aims to expose young people to science and technology and encourage them to consider careers in the field.
