The Men’s Forum in Ward 81, a community group that empowers men to tackle social issues and support local communities, has refurbished Muhluri Pre-School in Bramley.
Members repainted and decorated the school’s walls after securing a donation of paint from a company.
The group says the project is part of its efforts to move beyond its weekly discussions on issues such as gender based violence and take practical action in the community.

South African literacy organisation Nal’ibali Trust has won the 2026 Library of Congress International Literacy Prize and 50-thousand US dollars.
The award recognises more than a decade of work making reading for pleasure accessible to children across South Africa, including through stories and literacy resources in the country’s official written languages.
Nal’ibali also provides stories through print, audio and digital platforms, while working with partners to expand access for deaf and blind children.
Executive Director Lorato Trok says the organisation is delighted to receive the international recognition.

Deputy Sport, Arts and Culture Minister Peace Mabe has handed over a new multipurpose sports facility at ED Mashabane Secondary School in Evaton, Gauteng.
The government school now has a combi court for soccer, basketball, netball, volleyball and tennis, as well as an outdoor gym and children’s play area.
Sports equipment, apparel and books were also given to three schools in the area.
The development gives children greater access to sporting opportunities and a chance to discover talents they may not otherwise have the opportunity to explore.
